Follow the links below for information about current funding opportunities for service and service-learning in your school as well as grants for supplies that could be used for service-learning. Grant information is updated regularly so be sure to check back often!
Service and Service-Learning Grants
- National Gardening Association - A variety of grants and awards for school gardening programs.
Deadline: Varies, see website for details - Operation Green Plant - In-kind grants of 100 vegetable, flower or herb seeds packets for gardening and beautification projects.
Deadline: Ongoing
General Education Grants
- NEA Student Achievement Grants - The NEA offers grants of $5,000 to be spent on materials or educational experience for students that will improve their academic achievement in any subject area.
Deadline: February 1, June 1 and October 15 annually - The Lego Children's Fund - Grants of $500 - $5,000 awarded for early childhood education and development related to creativity OR technology and communication projects that advance learning.
Deadline: 15th of January, April, July, and October - Toshiba America Foundation Grants - Grants of up to $5,000 for 6-12 teachers who are passionate about making science and mathematics more engaging for their students.
Deadline: Ongoing
Professional Development Grants
- NEA Learning and Leadership Grants - Grants of $2,000 for individuals to support participation in high-quality professional development or $5,000 for groups engaged in collegial study.
Deadline: February 1, June 1, October 15 annually
Supplies and Facilities Grants
- Home Depot Foundation Grant – Grants of up to $5,000 in Home Depot gift cards available to schools, organizations or public service agencies in the U.S. using the power of volunteers to improve the physical health of their community, particularly housing repairs modification or weatherization projects involving veterans.
Deadline: August 13, 2012 - Target Field Trip Grants - Grants of $700 for classroom field trips.

Grants for Youth
- Do Something Seed Grants - One grant of $500 available each week for U.S. and Canadian citizens age 25 or under who want to create a community action project or further the success of an existing program.
Deadline: Ongoing - Ways to Help - $500 grants for youth under the age of 19 for creative projects with a big impact on 16 issue areas in these catagories: the environment, democracy and equality, health, and community issues.
