Silver Creek High School (Sellersburg, IN) students delivered donations and a check for $250.00 on Thursday, April 26th, 2012 to Haven House in Jeffersonville, IN approximately two weeks after participating in an event called Shanty Town. Shanty Town was an annual event copied many years ago by two clubs at SCHS: the Sunshine Society (since disbanded) and the FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes). Several years ago, when the Sunshine Society was discontinued, their former adviser asked the Student Council to take on this annual event. Today, the Student Council, with help from the Heart Club, continues the tradition of holding this Shanty Town event in an effort to show how students can make a difference by volunteering and giving back to their community. Approximately 90 students participated this year along with 6 members of the SCHS staff. The picture taken shows the Student Council and Heart Club members who dropped off the donations along with two representatives of Haven House accepting the $250.00 check.
