MUSIC’S BRIGHTEST STARS CELEBRATE GRAMMY® NIGHT WITH generationOn
Star-Studded EMI After-Grammy Celebration Features generationOn as Non-Profit Partner
NEW YORK (February 22, 2011) – generationOn, the youth division of Points of Light that ignites the power of all kids to make their mark on the world, was honored as EMI’s non-profit partner at their After-Grammy Celebration at MILK Studios in Los Angeles on Sunday, February 13, 2011. Joined by EMI’s Grammy-winning artists and songwriters, including Lady Antebellum, Keith Urban, Katy Perry and more, generationOn celebrated EMI’s more than 20 Grammy awards and raised thousands of dollars from generous party guests dedicated to bringing the power of service to children and teens around the world.
“EMI shares generationOn’s dedication to inspiring children and teens to take action to bring positive change to their communities, and we were honored to be part of their fantastic celebration,” said Christopher Caruso, executive director of generationOn. “It was an amazing opportunity for us to continue to spread the word about generationOn, and share how, by providing the tools and resources needed to empower kids to become the next generation of compassionate global citizens, we can all truly change the world.”
At the party, generationOn hosted a CUPONK® game area, with games provided by Hasbro, Inc. (NYSE: HAS), a founding partner of generationOn. Party guests tried their luck at sinking a ball into the CUPONK cup for chances to win generationOn bracelets and CUPONK bragging rights. GenerationOn was also honored to be part of the evening’s “Tree of Life,” which invited guests to make a donation to generationOn and remove an envelope from the “tree,” all of which contained Ultimate Ears prizes from Logitech. With the help of the “Tree of Life” and the generosity of the invited guests, more than $3,000 was raised to support generationOn’s mission to inspire, equip, and mobilize youth to take action that changes the world and themselves through service.
In addition to the activities within the party, a crew from The Hub TV channel was on the red carpet to talk with the stars in attendance about how they were helping kids to change the world. Hub World Host Justin Willman spoke with music stars including Kimberly Caldwell, Little Big Town, Sasha, Sick Puppies, Shawn Hlookoff, Trevor Hall and Priscilla Renea about what youth service means to them, and how they wanted to inspire kids to take action to change the world.
