GenerationOn to Sponsor The Great Kindness Challenge Global Youth Service Movement Adds Momentum to August 13 Day of Kindness

CARLSBAD, Calif., Aug 12, 2011 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Kids for Peace announced today that generationOn has become a Gold Sponsor of this year's Great Kindness Challenge.

GenerationOn, the youth division of Points of Light Institute, brings together multiple youth service organizations and programs, including Children for Children, The League, Learning to Give, Points of Light Institute's Kids Care Clubs, HandsOn Schools, and HandsOn Network's youth-driven programs.

The Great Kindness Challenge (www.greatkindnesschallenge.org) is an annual event where kids around the world perform acts of kindness, choosing from a downloadable checklist of 50 suggestions. Last year's Challenge reached 50 countries, spanning six continents. This year, on August 13, Kids for Peace is aiming for one million youth participants in 100 countries.

"This is a wonderful and important step toward our goal of inspiring children to spread peace and love around the globe," said Jill McManigal, executive director and co-founder of Kids for Peace. "GenerationOn's mission aligns beautifully with our own, and together we can mobilize kids everywhere for The Great Kindness Challenge." "GenerationOn is thrilled to be partnering with Kids for Peace in The Great Kindness Challenge," said Christopher Caruso, executive director. "Our youth around the world are caring and compassionate kids who work throughout the year to make their mark on the world through service. We are excited to participate in this challenge to show kids how fun and easy it is to do something nice for someone else." The Great Kindness Challenge is also sponsored by Southwest Airlines, with public relations support from CRT/tanaka and web design services donated by Envisager Studio.
