Make Your Mark on MLK Day!
The Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service on Jan. 16, 2012, marks the beginning of the year of service as millions of Americans honor the memory of Dr. King by contributing their time, talent, voice and money to improve their communities.
GenerationOn provides resources and hosts events to make this day meaningful.

GenerationOn MLK Day resources are designed to provide students, parents, teachers, and a youth service organizations with the tools and resources needed to plan and run meaningful MLK Day service project at school or in the community.

MLK Day Events:
Grow Involved on MLK Day
Join generationOn and bring life to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s famous words, “Everybody can be great, because everybody can serve."
GenerationOn will hold the Grow Involved on MLK DAY 2012 event at PS 57. This generationOn School in East Harlem, New York combines Dr. King’s commitment to building bridges and addressing pressing community needs.
GenerationOn will host up to 600 kids, families and community groups to view an excerpt from a documentary, Whatever it Takes by Christopher Wong. Participants will then break in to small groups to discuss the film and participate in a relevant hands-on service project using generationOn’s Grow Involved service kits. Service projects include making fleece scarves for a local homeless shelter and creating "Spread the Cheer" cards for the troops.

Sunday Suppers
Join generationOn and Points of Light in meaningful dialogue andreflection to advance Dr. King's work, legacy and vision of creating a beloved community. You can get involved by participating in America's Sunday Suppers, where people from diverse backgrounds to come together to share a meal, discuss issues such as poverty and homelessness that American families and veterans are facing today, and be inspired to take action through service and advocacy.
