Youth Volunteer Stories, Projects & Resources
Body
This year, we marked the 10th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on 9/11 and how our nation came together in a spirit of unity and commitment to serve.
GenerationOn, in collaboration with HandsOn Network and MyGoodDeed.org, has partnered with schools, youth organizations, and youth volunteers across the country to organize service projects that will engage and inspire youth to commit to serve on this day and beyond, and to create positive change by utilizing their voices and deeds to promote service in honor of 9/11.
Here, you will find resources, service ideas, links and stories to help you organize and plan service projects to keep the spirit of service going all year long.

9/11 Service Projects
Through the generous support of American Express, JPMorgan Chase, and other national sponsors, generationOn was pleased to support youth-led projects from around the country through $500 9/11 Day of Service and Remembrance mini-grants. These grants have engaged thousands of young people in service around creative and innovative projects for community engagement and impact.
Check out The Volunteer Center of Santa Cruz County's generationOn blog entry to read about their preparation for their service project.
GenerationOn Youth Advisory Council member Clay Hurdle also mobilized his community to take action on the 10th anniversary of Septebmer 11. Read his inspiring story here.

Youth & Family Events
On Sunday, September 11, Hasbro, generationOn’s founding partner, hosted a special family day of service for employees at its office in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. The projects, which included decorating patriotic cupcakes, creating placemats and bookmarks, writing thank you notes and assembling play kits, supported homeless veterans, the Wounded Warriors Project, troops overseas, and tragedy assistance programs for families. As part of this effort, the Hasbro generationOn Club launched for the children of employees, with workshops held for children and parents on leadership and service.
