2012 Annual Benefit
An Evening to Support generationOn
Body
On Thursday, May 31, 2012 in New York City generationOn recognized a special group of adults and kids for their outstanding leadership in youth service. The event honored NPR CEO Gary Knell, who received the Champion of Service and Education Award, and Lauren Bush Lauren, who was honored for her work co-founding The FEED Project. Six young service leaders, ages 8 through 16, also received the third annual Hasbro Community Action Hero Awards for their dedication to creating positive change in their communities and around the world through their exceptional service. In addition, Nuni Montaigne and Sonya Sackner-Bernstein received the inaugural Silda Wall Spitzer Children for Children Award.
GenerationOn’s Benefit is an important vehicle through which generationOn raises funds to support its youth service programs and highlights individuals for bringing positive change to our communities. More than 300 guests helped generationOn raise more than $800,000.
The event was hosted and co-chaired by longtime generationOn advocates Kevin Arquit, Brian and Barbara Goldner, Kathy Lacey, and Silda Wall Spitzer, and attracted Hollywood and business luminaries including The Daily Show’s John Oliver, author and Veteran Wes Moore, Avatar actor Stephen Lang, David Lauren, Jet Blue CEO Dave Barger, New York City Marathon winner Paul Tergat, and journalist Jacki Lydon.
